I’ve been invited to explore a section of Hadrian’s Wall ahead of next summer’s trek. It’s a scouting mission, if you will.
Not sure my knees will hold out, but there’s only one way to find out. Actually, there’s two, but I think I’ll just go for a saunter with a few of the Hadrian’s Walk bunch.
Meanwhile, I’m going to start walking to and from work while the weather’s fairly pleasant. Should get me up to about 9 miles a day, which if it doesn’t prepare me for The Walk properly, at least I will feel fitter and hopefully lose a little extra weight. Target loss: 1.5 stones (a good mix of decimal and imperial for you there.)

You’d be surprised how fit a daily walk gets you. I’ve been walking for 3 miles every morning for a couple of months now, and I managed the cumbria way with no bother at all. Admittedly the three miles is up and then back down scapegoat hill, but 9 miles would do you wonders I should imagine.
Don’t wreck you knee though.

hmm going to work walking..it’s about 30min by bike and with this sweaty weather I’ll need a shower before I start working, I don’t know how it’s across the moat, but overhere it’s a sweaty 28-30C.
I’ll have to think about this thing called practice..

Walking to work…what an idea! I would consider walking to work, but this week a body was found on the side of the road along the route I’d have to take. Turns out the guy died of bee stings. Tragic, but thankfully no foul play.
So, on that horribly depressing note, happy walking!

9 miles a day!! And here I was feeling proud of myself for two miles twice a week at the gym. Baby steps, I guess.
